North Korea tested a cluster warhead for a strategic cruise missile on November 2.
The state news agency KCNA reported this.
The DPRK Missile Administration assessed the cluster warhead’s power and verified the missile’s flight characteristics during a vertical strike on a target.
According to the military, the missile equipped with a medium-yield warhead can strike a target area of 5–6 hectares with extremely high strike density.
Separately, the Cruise Missile System Institute announced that it had completed the development of vertical strike technology.
To achieve this, designers improved the missile’s maneuvering during the terminal phase of flight, taking into account the terrain’s natural and geographical features.
This is Pyongyang’s second announcement of cluster warhead tests in just a few days.
On October 31, North Korea tested a similar warhead for a tactical ballistic missile.
At the time, North Korean military officials stated that the standard-type warhead was capable of striking a target area of 12–13 hectares.
Pyongyang also announced the development of four categories of such munitions and plans to equip military units with the capability to use them according to their combat missions by the end of 2026.
Militarnyi previously reported that on October 15, 2026, North Korea tested two types of submarine-launched strategic cruise missiles in the Sea of Japan. One of them was identified as the Pulhwasal-3-31. The missiles were launched from the Hero Kim Kun Ok submarine.
