Hanwha Aerospace is expected to finalize an agreement with Poland to export its Chunmoo multiple launch rocket systems, Yonhap News Agency reported.
The contract is reported to be worth more than 5 trillion won ($3.4 billion) and would involve Hanwha Aerospace, the Polish government, and Poland’s largest private defense company WB Electronics.
The deal would follow two earlier Chunmoo-related agreements. A second-phase contract signed in 2024 was valued at 2.2 trillion won ($1.5 billion), while an initial 2022 agreement was worth over 5 trillion won ($3.4 billion).
Chunmoo System
The Chunmoo is a South Korean multiple launch rocket system developed under a domestically led program.
It is designed to deliver concentrated rocket and missile fire at ranges of up to 80 kilometers (50 miles), with a reported circular error probable of around 15 meters (49 feet).
The vehicle-mounted system is optimized for mobility, with a maximum road speed of roughly 80 kilometers (50 miles) per hour.
It can fire its first rockets within about seven minutes of arriving at a launch position, enabling rapid engagement and repositioning.
Chunmoo uses a modular launcher architecture that allows a single platform to employ different types of munitions.
By swapping launch pods, the system can fire short-, medium-, and longer-range guided rockets and missiles, supporting multiple mission profiles without requiring separate launch vehicles.
