Range of Up to 1,200 km: DIU Reveals Gerbera-2 Specifications

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) has published detailed specifications of Russia’s new Gerbera-2 kamikaze drone.

The information was published on the War&Sanctions website.

The agency noted that although the Gerbera-2 was developed as a low-cost means of overwhelming Ukrainian air defenses, Russia has opted to make the UAV more expensive.

Russia subsequently developed reconnaissance and strike versions. In the latest known version of the Gerbera-2, the Russians significantly enlarged the fuselage and fuel tank and installed more expensive onboard equipment.

According to the DIU, the Gerbera-2 has a fuselage length of 2.6 meters and a wingspan of 3 meters. Its fuel tank has a capacity of 63 liters, giving the UAV a range of up to 1,200 km. To maintain stability during maneuvers, the tank is internally divided into separate compartments.

The claimed endurance is up to 10 hours, with a maximum speed of 200 km/h and a cruising speed of up to 180 km/h. Russia claims that the UAV can be fitted with a warhead weighing up to 25 kg.

In the examined sample, the DIU identified a 10 kg OFZBCh-10 high-explosive fragmentation incendiary warhead, as well as separate bags containing an incendiary mixture.

The propulsion system consists of a two-cylinder, two-stroke engine, which, according to Ukrainian intelligence, is essentially half of the engine used in Russia’s Geran-2 attack UAV. Production of the latter has been localized at a facility in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone.

The Gerbera-2’s electronic equipment has also undergone significant upgrades. The UAV has received a new flight controller, a 12-channel jamming-resistant Kometa-M12 navigation module, and a mesh modem manufactured by the Chinese company Shenzhen Sinosun Technology Co., Ltd.

A separate unit called Sosiskа, based on the Chinese Coke Pi microcomputer, is used for video signal processing.

The examined sample also had a dual IP camera mounted on the fuselage above the fuel tank. It is designed to detect Ukrainian interceptor drones. In addition, there are variants equipped with coarse IP cameras and three-axis gimbal cameras.

The Russian Gerbera-2 UAV uses both foreign-made and Russian components. As of November 2, 2026, the list of foreign components identified in this model includes 22 items.

The country of origin was established for 20 of them: eight components were manufactured in China, four in the United States, three in Ireland, and another three in Switzerland. One component each originated in Taiwan and the Netherlands. The country of origin of the two remaining components — the AIME1 memory chip and the IP camera — has not been established.

The DIU also identified the Russian Kometa-M12 navigation module, manufactured by VNIIR-Progress.
