The United Kingdom will accelerate deliveries of LMM missiles to Ukraine for air defense and is preparing additional packages of military, financial, and sanctions support.
The UK government announced this ahead of a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and UK Prime Minister Andrew Burnham.
One of the new measures is supplying air defense missiles to Ukraine worth £45 million. The UK plans to accelerate deliveries of Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMM), which Ukraine’s Defense Forces use for air defense.
The UK government specifically highlighted the use of LMM missiles against Russian jet-powered drones.
The prime minister has instructed ministers to prepare additional sanctions against Russia, along with military aid and financial support packages, to be presented in the coming weeks. The UK has also called on international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.
Under the new £45 million package, the UK will accelerate deliveries of £10 million worth of missiles to meet Ukraine’s most urgent air defense needs this winter.
Overall, the UK has already committed £1.6 billion to supply Ukraine with more than 5,000 LMM missiles over four years. The contract provides for their production at Thales’ facility in Belfast.
The UK continued to increase deliveries of these weapons in 2026. In June, Militarnyi reported on a new British package that included LMM missiles and 150,000 drones.
The increased military support comes with expanded British sanctions pressure on Russia. The government confirmed it intends to fully implement a ban on maritime services for exporting Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The restrictions cover, in particular, British companies’ involvement in the maritime transport of Russian LNG, as well as related financial and brokerage services.
They aim to restrict Russia’s access to British shipping, insurance, and financial services that support maritime transport.
In June, Militarnyi reported on new British sanctions targeting Russia’s defense industry and shadow fleet. The sanctions list also included LNG carriers involved in transporting Russian LNG.
