The US State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale to Norway of MK 54 MOD 0 lightweight torpedoes for an estimated $162 million.
Norway has requested up to 50 torpedo systems, including torpedo components, containers, and software.
Additionally, the sale would cover training, support equipment, and spare and repair parts.
Contractor engineering, technical, and logistical support are also part of the package.
RTX Corporation, based in Arlington, Virginia, will serve as the principal contractor.
Implementation will require the temporary deployment of US government and contractor personnel to Norway for program oversight and support.
The US stated the sale would support its foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of a NATO ally, improving Oslo’s ability to address current and future threats, and increasing interoperability with allied forces.
