The United States has warned several Gulf Arab countries that it could resume military action against Iran after the US midterm elections on November 3.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Washington has reportedly urged regional countries to prepare for a short but intense military campaign against Iran, using diplomatic and military channels to deliver the warning.
According to sources cited by the publication, the United States and Israel are considering a new wave of large-scale strikes against Iran.
The military is already taking preparatory steps. For example, flight-tracking data and information from two officials indicate that an additional Patriot air defense system is being transferred from Texas to Israel to strengthen its defenses against missile attacks.
US forces in the Middle East are replenishing ammunition stocks, while bomber and fighter aircraft prepare for possible strike operations.
In November, another carrier strike group and a Marine Corps unit could join the US force in the region, which currently consists of around 20 warships.
According to the WSJ, the US president has not yet made a final decision on a new military operation but is leaning toward large-scale strikes after the elections. Potential targets include Iran’s infrastructure and nuclear program facilities.
Tehran, in turn, has warned that it could retaliate by striking economic and civilian facilities in countries across the region. Despite previous hostilities, Iran retains a substantial stockpile of missiles and is rebuilding its ballistic weapons production capacity.
Amid the threat of renewed escalation, Iran has begun reinforcing its nuclear infrastructure and preparing its population for possible hostilities.
Militarnyi previously reported that Iran had developed a plan to attack undersea telecommunications cables in the Persian Gulf in the event of a resumption of war with the United States and Israel.
Tehran also plans to obstruct repairs to damaged cables to prolong communications disruptions across countries in the region.
