Skyborne Introduces Four-Legged Marksman

Skyborne’s quadruped blends autonomous navigation, AI targeting and compact lethal modules to tackle urban, forest and uneven-terrain missions.

US firm Skyborne Technologies is giving US military forces a new assistant on the battlefield: a robot dog that can track and engage multiple targets with improved precision.

Dubbed Controller-Operated Direct-Action Quadruped (CODiAQ), the rapid-deploy ground robotic system is equipped with an AI-powered targeting software to support more accurate strikes.

A targeting optics module further supports its engagement capability, enabling continuous operation in both day and night conditions.

While a single operator can control the robot via a handheld remote, the CODiAQ is also engineered to move on its own, easing the operational burden on troops.

It can reportedly navigate uneven terrain, dense forests, and urban settings. Its IP-67 rating indicates the system can withstand dust while staying protected in water up to one meter (three feet) deep.

Troops can also be trained to use CODiAQ in just a few days, allowing military units to quickly expand their combat options without relying on expensive assets.

“This marks a significant leap in autonomous ground systems for irregular warfare,” the company stated in a press release.

A Next-Gen ‘Marksman’

CODiAQ carries Skyborne’s own Havoc and Chaos modular weapon payloads — the same systems used on the company’s airborne platforms — turning the robot dog into a mobile, lethal “marksman”

The Havoc module fires 12-gauge ammunition, while Chaos delivers five low-velocity 40mm grenades similar to those used in standard infantry launchers.

Together, they allow CODiAQ to perform both direct-fire engagements and ballistic breaching from a compact, ground-based frame.

While full-rate production details remain undisclosed, Skyborne said the system is already being rolled out with select US government partners for evaluation across various mission profiles.

The robot dog made its public debut at the 2025 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) expo in Washington, D.C.
