Pentagon awards $252M contract to support Iraq’s F-16 program

The U.S. Department of Defense has approved a new contract worth more than $252 million for Vectrus Systems LLC to support Iraq’s F-16 fighter jet program. The contract expands logistical and security services for one of Iraq’s most critical air capabilities.
According to the Pentagon statement, followed by IraqiNews, the deal — valued at $252,050,925 — is a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract covering base operations, life-support services, and security support for the F-16 program. Work will take place at Martyr Brigadier Ali Flaih Air Base, with completion expected by September 24, 2026.
The contract falls under Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to Iraq and was awarded as a sole-source acquisition. At signing, nearly $124 million of FMS funds were obligated to launch the project.
The new agreement aims to maintain operational readiness for Iraq’s F-16 fleet, which plays a central role in air defense and counterterrorism operations. The added support ensures continuity of logistical, technical, and security services for the program over the next two years.
