Sweden Orders 94 Additional Patria 6×6 Vehicles Under CAVS Program

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration has procured 94 additional 6×6 armored vehicles from Patria, building on a 321-vehicle order from March 2024.
Valued at approximately 1.5 billion Swedish krona ($159.8 million) and facilitated under the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program, the latest deal brings the Swedish Armed Forces’ Patria 6×6 vehicle fleet to a total of 415, scheduled for delivery from 2025 to 2030.
This package covers vehicles — designated as Pansarterrängbil 300 in Sweden — in troop transport, command and control, and Medevac variants.
Stockholm’s expansion of its Patria 6×6 vehicle fleet “represents a solid sign of trust and the joint power of Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, which further solidifies the interoperability and security of supply among allied nations,” said Mats Warstedt, VP of Market Area Nordics at Patria.
Moreover, the acquisition adds to a string of recent Swedish defense orders, including Textron’s RIPSAW M3 robotic ground vehicle and more Sisu GTP 4×4 armored vehicles.
CAVS Program
Launched in 2020 and led by Finland and Finnish firm Patria, the multinational CAVS program includes Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, and the UK.
It chose the Patria 6×6 vehicle as the standardized platform for the program’s member nations — utilizing their local industries, bringing cost benefits through joint procurement, and enhancing interoperability.
The 6×6 vehicle is a modular platform that can be adapted for different missions to meet various operational requirements.
Meanwhile, the CAVS program is also open to countries with similar equipment requirements, by mutual consent of the participating countries.
