Indian, Israeli firms partner on electric military vehicles

Belrise Industries and Plasan Sasa have announced a strategic agreement to jointly pursue opportunities in India’s military market centered on the ATEMM series of electric vehicles.
As noted by the companies, the agreement brings together Belrise Industries, an Indian automotive systems manufacturer, and Plasan Sasa, an Israeli company known for armor and survivability solutions. The partnership is focused on introducing and adapting the ATEMM platform for Indian military requirements.
According to the press release, ATEMM stands for All-Terrain Electric Mission Module and is described as a self-propelled electric platform designed to support modern armed forces by improving payload capacity, onboard energy, survivability, and mobility. The companies said the system is intended to be mission-ready and adaptable to a range of military roles.
The partnership will center on tailoring ATEMM vehicles to the needs of the Indian Armed Forces, leveraging Plasan’s experience in survivability and automotive defense systems and Belrise’s industrial footprint in India. Company says the goal is to provide solutions that can be produced locally while meeting operational requirements.
The agreement also aligns with India’s broader defense industrial policies. According to the companies, the cooperation supports the Indian government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, which aim to expand domestic defense manufacturing and reduce reliance on foreign imports. Localized production and technology transfer are identified as key elements of the arrangement.
Beyond India, the companies outlined a longer-term industrial plan. As part of the agreement, Belrise is expected to become an integral part of Plasan’s global supply chain. The press release said this would enable cost-effective production of Plasan’s advanced systems in India, supporting not only Indian defense programs but also Plasan’s international operations.
Belrise Industries said its role will extend beyond assembly to include deeper manufacturing involvement as programs mature. The companies did not disclose timelines, contract values, or whether a specific Indian military program has already been identified for ATEMM adoption.
In a statement, Mr. Swastid Badve, Chief of Staff at Belrise Industries, said, “This partnership agreement represents a significant milestone in our journey to bring world-class defense technologies to India. By combining Belrise’s manufacturing capabilities with Plasan’s innovation, we are confident in delivering solutions that meet the evolving needs of the Indian Armed Forces.”
Plasan Sasa also emphasized the strategic nature of the agreement. In a statement, Mr. Gilad Ariav, vice president of marketing and business development at Plasan, said, “We are proud to partner with Belrise Industries, a company that shares our vision for innovation and excellence. Together, we will not only serve India’s defense requirements but also strengthen our global supply chain with cost-effective production from India.”
Plasan has built its reputation on armored vehicle solutions and survivability technologies used by multiple militaries worldwide. The company’s involvement suggests that protection and modular mission integration will be core features of the ATEMM platform as it is adapted for Indian use.
The ATEMM concept reflects a broader shift toward electric and hybrid platforms in military logistics and support roles. Electric propulsion is increasingly viewed as useful for reducing acoustic and thermal signatures, improving onboard power generation, and supporting future sensor and mission systems, particularly in non-frontline or mixed operational environments.
While the companies did not specify whether ATEMM would be armed or primarily used for support missions, the press release emphasized flexibility and adaptability for modern armed forces. Any future configuration decisions are likely to depend on Indian military requirements and procurement priorities.
