UK Reveals One-Way Attack Drone With 2.5-Kilogram Warhead Punch

HAMMER is a one-way attack drone, with extended-range batteries, launched via in-house catapult, and supporting multiple munitions.
UK-based Edinburgh Drone Company (EDC) is cranking up its battlefield firepower with its latest one-way attack drone, the HAMMER.
Developed with Aero Solutions, the drone carries a 2.5-kilogram (5.5-pound) warhead, but its capacity can extend to at least 3.5 kilograms (7.7 pounds).
It comes with two range options: a standard 22 kilometers (13.7 miles) or up to 50 kilometers (31 miles) with the extended-range kit, letting operators strike from safer distances.

The drone is launched via catapult, and additional batteries can extend its flight time for greater reach and flexibility.
HAMMER supports reusable fillable cassettes and warheads similar to those used in rocket-propelled grenades, giving operators multiple strike options.
For operational safety, the system includes a built-in launch mechanism, safe-arming feature, and flight termination system to reduce risks during handling and deployment.
HAMMER in Action
The drone was unveiled at EDC’s Haddington facility, where partners and stakeholders got a first look and discussed the drone’s production roadmap.
In recent live trials, HAMMER’s warhead reportedly cut through 600 millimeters (23.6 inches) of armored steel, showcasing its battlefield punch.

EDC said the platform was engineered for simple production, low cost, and easy scaling so it can be manufactured quickly without unnecessary complexity.
“We’ve deliberately built HAMMER to be simple and cost-effective, up to 100,000 pounds ($125,000) lower than comparable European start-up offerings, while remaining mission-ready,” said AeroSolutions Chief Executive Officer Stewart Clifford.
“With over eight years of development and production experience, we believe this is a landmark moment for Scotland’s defense manufacturing base and for the UK’s ability to generate sovereign capability at pace.”
