MBDA Deutschland has proposed arming the Precise and Universal Launching System (PULS) multiple rocket launcher (MRL) with the Joint Fire Support Missile (JFS-M).

The missile has a range of 499 kilometers (310 miles).

MBDA Deutschland proposed the concept at Defence iQ’s Future Artillery conference in Munich last week, according to Janes.

The Elbit Systems PULS can fire various rockets, including the Predator Hawk with a range of up to 300 kilometers (186 miles).

Joint Fire Support Missile

MBDA Deutschland, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), and ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH (ESG) are developing the JFS-M for the German Army’s Mars II MLRS system, based on the tracked M270 MLRS.

The wheeled PULS could replace the Mars II, providing greater firepower than the HIMARS while retaining its wheeled-based mobility, Bild revealed.

According to MBDA, the missile’s low infrared and radio frequency signature and terrain-adapted trajectory make detection and interception challenging.

PULS with Naval Strike Missile

Meanwhile, a joint venture of KMW and Nexter Defense Systems has also proposed arming the PULS with the Kongsberg’s Naval Strike Missile (NSM).

Citing a KMW representative, Janes wrote that the NSM could be used in a surface-to-surface role against naval or land targets. The missile has a range of up to 250 kilometers (155 miles).
