Report: Israel Developing ‘Cyber Dome’ – Digital Version of Iron Dome

Israel is developing a digital version of its “Iron Dome” air defense system to address emerging threats in cyberspace.

Called “Cyber Dome,” the installation is situated around 90 minutes from Tel Aviv, the economic and technological center of the country.

It is being built with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and a small army of intelligence personnel.

According to a report by The Week, the platform will help secure Jerusalem’s vital infrastructure from sophisticated cyberattacks carried out by hostile nations.

It will be staffed by cybersecurity experts from various departments, including the ministry of defense, the Israeli Defense Forces, and spy agencies Mossad and Shin Bet.

Elevating National Cybersecurity

Israel is currently facing increased threats in cyberspace following the surprise attack of Palestinian militant group Hamas earlier this month.

The country reported multiple attacks on government information websites and media outlets, including newspaper The Jerusalem Post.

It also announced that the social media account of Israeli President Isaac Herzog was briefly hacked, though a link to Hamas could not be established.

With these increasing threats in mind, Israel National Cyber Directorate official Gaby Portnoy said Cyber Dome will elevate national cybersecurity by implementing new mechanisms.

It will also provide tools and services to boost the protection of national assets and synchronize nation-level detection, analysis, and mitigation of threats.

However, no specific details regarding the mechanisms and tools of the cyber defense system were provided.
