The British Ministry of Defence has donated counter-explosive ordnance equipment to war-torn Ukraine.

Last week, the UK delivered more than 1,000 metal detectors to help Ukrainian troops clear land mines and clear civilian infrastructure of explosives.

Kyiv also received 100 bomb-defusing kits to defuse unexploded Russian bombs.

“Russia’s use of landmines and targeting of civilian infrastructure underline the shocking cruelty of Putin’s invasion,” Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said.

“This latest package of UK support will help Ukraine safely clear land and buildings as it reclaims its rightful territory.”

Recent UK Aid to Ukraine

The British government was the first European nation to send military aid to Ukraine after Russia’s invasion in late February last year.

In March, the UK sent an undisclosed number of 14-kilogram (31-pound) Starstreak anti-aircraft missile systems to boost Kyiv’s defensive capabilities.

The country also donated M720 multiple launch rocket systems in June despite warnings from Russian President Vladimir Putin against sending advanced weapons to Kyiv.

Ukraine received three British Sea King helicopters in November. British officials trained 10 Ukrainian service personnel and engineers for six weeks as part of the “first helicopter capability the UK has donated to Ukraine.”

The UK also recently delivered a 50-million-pound ($60.2 million) air defense systems package that included more than 1,000 anti-air missiles and 125 anti-aircraft guns.
