Belarus holds military drills after Poland deploys 1,000 troops to border
Tensions between Poland and Belarus are increasing day by day over fears of Wagner troops crossing the border. On Monday, Poland deployed an additional 1,000 troops to the border with Belarus and Minsk announced military exercises on the border.
Belarus announced that its armed forces were conducting military exercises near the country’s border with Lithuania and Poland.
The Defense Ministry said the exercise would take place in conditions as close as possible to a real combat situation.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Poland‘s border concerns increased after Wagner troops were sent to Belarus after their short-lived mutiny in June.
Tensions with Belarus have escalated in recent days after Wagner soldiers announced their desire to cross into Poland.
Poland on Monday deployed an additional contingent of 1,000 troops on its border with Belarus, a day after it accused Minsk of orchestrating another migration influx into the EU via the Polish border.
