Boeing confirms 96-Apache deal with Poland
The Boeing Company has released new details on a major Apache helicopter agreement with Poland, confirming that the U.S. Army has awarded the company a Foreign Military Sales contract valued at nearly $4.7 billion to produce AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for international customers.
According to Boeing, the order includes 96 aircraft for the Polish Armed Forces—the largest Apache purchase ever made by a foreign military.
According to a press release from Boeing, deliveries to Poland are expected to begin in 2028. The Polish Ministry of National Defence is already preparing for the new fleet, with pilots and maintainers now in training. As noted by the company, the ministry is currently leasing eight Apaches from the U.S. Army to support the transition.
“This important agreement allows us to begin building one of the largest and most formidable Apache fleets that the world has ever seen,” said Christina Upah, vice president of Boeing’s Attack Helicopter Programs. “Working closely with the Polish Armed Forces, we’re focused on disciplined execution to help enhance Poland’s defense capabilities and keep up with the strong demand for the most advanced attack helicopter.”
The AH-64E, manufactured by Boeing and operated by 19 countries worldwide, is the newest and most advanced Apache configuration. The aircraft provides improved connectivity, better navigation, and upgraded mission systems designed for a broad range of battlefield conditions. The company noted that the Apache platform has matured over decades of use, with more than 1,300 aircraft operating across global fleets. Sustainment support and training are provided through Boeing Global Services.
The company also highlighted the industrial cooperation that will accompany the sale. Under an offset agreement reached last year with the Polish Ministry of National Defence, local industry will take on a key role in maintenance and long-term support for the Apache fleet. Boeing says it will establish training programs and assist in developing a composite laboratory to support future sustainment and production work inside Poland.
Boeing marked the 50th anniversary of the Apache’s first flight earlier this year at its Mesa, Arizona production facility. In recent months, Boeing has delivered new Apaches to the Australian Army, Indian Army, and Royal Moroccan Air Force, expanding the global footprint of the platform as demand for advanced attack helicopters continues to grow.
