Boeing to Triple Patriot Missile Seeker Production

Boeing and the U.S. Department of War have signed a seven-year agreement to expand production of seekers for Patriot missiles.

The company announced that the initiative forms part of the Arsenal of Freedom program, a U.S. effort to strengthen the defense industrial base.

The seekers produced by Boeing enable Patriot PAC-3 missiles to detect, track, and destroy modern threats, including aircraft, hypersonic weapons, and ballistic and cruise missiles.

The framework agreement provides for a significant increase in the supply of these components.

Boeing has invested over $200 million since 2024 to expand production capacity for PAC-3 seekers in Huntsville.

Within the new agreement, Boeing, the U.S. Department of War and Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor for the PAC-3 MSE missile segment, will start ramping up production immediately and move to a multi-year contract later this year.

“We increased deliveries by more than 30% in 2025 and plan to expand our highly skilled workforce and presence in Huntsville as we triple production,” Boeing shared.

In 2024, the company reached a record output of more than 500 PAC-3 seekers.

At the same time, the U.S. Department of Defense is seeking alternative suppliers for PAC-3 MSE seekers, which Boeing currently produces exclusively, as this limits the pace of missile production.

The Pentagon plans to triple production of Lockheed Martin’s PAC-3 MSE interceptors.
