Elbit Secures $12M US Army Contract for Monocular Night Vision Devices
Elbit Systems has clinched a $12-million contract to supply the US Army with an undisclosed number of AN/PVS-14 monocular night vision devices.
The equipment is designed to provide troops with the capability to accurately engage targets in low-light environments.
It also reportedly reduces the need to carry multiple types of specialized equipment when conducting night operations.
A helmet-mounted, passive device, the AN/PVS-14 operates in conjunction with rifle-mounted aiming lights.
Work for the contract is expected to be complete by March 2025, according to the US Department of Defense.
Providing Better Situational Awareness
Elbit Systems said itsAN/PVS-14 monocular features a Gen 3 F9815 image intensifier tube that helps increase the intensity of available light for better visual imaging.
It also incorporates an infrared illuminator often found in surveillance cameras to improve visibility in low-light or no-light conditions.
Weighing only 1.2 pounds (0.5 kilograms), the device includes an adjustable military head strap for comfortable long-term use.
It has an operational range of 150 meters (492 feet).
The company said the equipment provides improved situational awareness and close-range vision to support various military missions.
