France ramps up Jaguar and Griffon vehicle production
KNDS France has unveiled ambitious plans to accelerate the production of its latest Jaguar and Griffon armored vehicles.
According to the company’s statement, 725 Griffon vehicles and 95 Jaguar vehicles are expected to be produced by the end of this year. Additionally, the first Griffon vehicles equipped with the 120 mm mortar MEPAC will be delivered this year.
Both the Jaguar and Griffon vehicles are pivotal to the SCORPION program, managed by the French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA). This initiative aims to revolutionize the combat capabilities of the French Army by leveraging advanced technology and innovative features that enhance real-time communication and battlefield digitization.
The Jaguar, a 25-tonne armored reconnaissance and combat vehicle (EBRC), is equipped with an impressive array of weaponry. It features the Nexter 40mm CTA gun, MBDA medium-range missiles (MMP), and the T3 Hornet remotely operated turret. Thales, a key player in defense technology, developed the advanced vetronics systems for the Jaguar, providing enhanced situational awareness and tactical training capabilities.
The Griffon, a 24-tonne multi-role armored vehicle, is designed to excel in a variety of missions including troop transport, command post operations, and artillery observation. Since its deployment in the Sahel region in 2021, the Griffon has demonstrated exceptional operational capabilities, maintenance efficiency, and mobility. The vehicle’s design and functionality make it a crucial asset for the French Armed Forces, contributing significantly to their operational readiness.
The SCORPION program represents a significant leap forward in modernizing the French Army’s combat systems. By integrating state-of-the-art technology and fostering collaborative combat environments, the program aims to enhance the French Army’s efficiency and effectiveness in modern warfare.
As part of the ongoing SCORPION program, the delivery and deployment of these advanced armored vehicles are expected to bolster the French Army’s capabilities significantly.
