French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu and Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan will meet in Paris on October 23 to officially confirm Armenia’s acquisition of French-made weapons.
Lecornu announced the news in an October 21 interview with the Le Parisien newspaper.
“It is necessary to allow Armenia to protect its civilian population and ensure the protection of its borders. Tomorrow, we will formalize Armenia’s acquisition of a certain number of weapons from French manufacturers, by signing a contract that will allow the country, in particular, to ensure the protection of its skies,” Lecornu told the newspaper.
During an October 11 discussion of the 2024 defense budget in the French Senate, Lecornu said that this week they will finalize operational and concrete measures of cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
