Germany Announces 100 Patriot Air Defense Missiles to Ukraine in Days
Germany will deliver 100 Patriot missiles to Ukraine in the coming weeks, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said.
A total of 32 missiles have already been delivered, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing Pistorius.
“And especially after seeing how critical air defense is to Ukraine’s survival, today I have the pleasure of announcing the delivery of a significant number of interceptors for the Patriot – one hundred,” the outlet quoted the minister as saying at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The delivery is part of a multi-nation initiative to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses, including Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.
Two More Patriots for Ukraine
Additionally, Pistorius said an additional Patriot air defense system would be sent to Ukraine in the coming weeks along with Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns and an IRIS-T air defense system.
It comes as Ukraine is about to receive an additional Patriot from the US in the coming days.
A total of three Patriots are operational in Ukraine: two donated by Germany and one by the US.
