Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, had a telephone conversation with Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy.

Zelensky thanked the Italian Prime Minister for the allocation of an additional €10 million to support Ukraine.

He announced this on his Telegram channel.

The president did not specify whether these funds would be channeled specifically to military assistance.

Giorgia Meloni also informed that Italy is considering providing Ukraine with air defense systems.

The Italian government stated on it website that the prime minister has confirmed full support for Ukraine in the political, military, economic and humanitarian spheres.

As previously reported, the Italian Senate confirmed the government’s decision to supply arms to Ukraine in 2023. According to the document, in 2023 Italy will supply Ukraine with weapons in accordance with NATO and EU allies.

The essence of the decision is that the military aid packages to Ukraine throughout 2023 will be sent without agreement with the parliament.

In early November, a representative of the ruling coalition told Reuters that the Italian government was considering providing Ukraine with a variety of air-defense systems.

This regards the medium-range Franco-Italian SAMP/T and Italian Aspide, as well as portable Stinger MANPADS.
