The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense has announced the delivery of 36 Bofors L-70 anti-aircraft guns and ammunition to Ukraine.

The weapons will help Kyiv defend its territory amid continued Russian aggression in the air.

According to defense minister Arvydas Anusauskas, Vilnius has already trained 15 Ukrainian instructors to use the anti-aircraft system.

“They will train even more Ukrainian operators once they return to the country,” he added.

The minister also noted that Lithuania plans to train around 1,600 Ukrainian soldiers this year to counter Russian ground attacks.

‘Support by All Means’

Lithuania has continued to support the war-torn nation with military aid.

In September last year, it delivered 50 M113 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine to provide its soldiers with improved mobility and survivability.

Anusauskas stressed that his country will continue to support its ally “by all other possible means as long as it is necessary.”

The L-70 40-millimeter automatic anti-aircraft guns it has sent to Kyiv can destroy enemy aerial assets at a range of up to five kilometers (3.1 miles).

They will also reportedly help Ukraine fight drones that Moscow is using to attack its critical infrastructure.
