Oshkosh Defense has delivered its first of seven Stryker Double-V Hull Infantry Carrier Vehicles upgraded with the 30 mm Medium Caliber Weapon System (MCWS) to the US Army for production verification testing.

The remaining vehicles will be delivered by September and complete production verification testing by June 2023, followed by fielding in July with the I-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington State.

“Our team leveraged our engineering and manufacturing prowess and deep commitment to customer satisfaction to deliver our first MCWS test vehicle on time, despite the dynamic market forces we have all experienced over the last year,” Vice President and General Manager of US Army and US Marine Corps Programs, Oshkosh Defense, Pat Williams said.

“Since the initial contract award, the close collaboration with the US Army has been paramount to achieving this important milestone.”

269 Strykers to Be Upgraded

The army chose Oshkosh and partners Pratt Miller Defense and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to outfit the vehicle with the weapon system in June 2021.

The five-year contract, with an extra optional year, stipulates the upgrade of up to six Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCTs).

The Wisconsin-based military vehicle manufacturer has since received orders for 269 Strykers for $356 million to outfit three SBCTs.
