Poland is considering the purchase of the European Airbus A400M transport aircraft to enhance the capabilities of its military transport aviation.

During the visit of German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius to Bremen, where Airbus production facilities are located, he announced discussions with Poland on ordering aircraft of this type.

As he noted, Poland needs up to 10 A400M aircraft to complement its fleet of American C-130 transport aircraft, which currently form the basis of Poland’s Air Force.

“In particular, there is a very specific interest from Poland, which we are working on together,” Pistorius stated.

Airbus is currently in a difficult situation due to the reduction of plans to purchase A400M transport aircraft for the air component of France and Spain.

According to the publication, Spain plans to purchase 10 fewer aircraft, and France, 13 fewer than previously announced. It is expected that the Airbus production facility, with current orders, will be able to operate only until 2027.

The Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany is currently actively looking for new buyers and trying to influence other countries to increase the number of A400Ms to be produced by the company.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the Air Force of Kazakhstan had received the first A400M military transport aircraft.

The aircraft arrived in Almaty on Thursday, December 5. This is one of two A400Ms ordered by Kazakhstan under a deal concluded in 2021 with Airbus Defense.

Under the contract, the second aircraft is to be delivered to the Kazakh Air Force in 2026.

The purchase contract provides for a full range of maintenance services for both aircraft.
