The Polish Navy has launched its new electronic intelligence (ELINT) vessel Jerzy Rozycki at the Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. facility in Gdansk.

The Polish Navy reported that the vessel, built under the Project 107 DELFIN program, was immediately christened following the launch.

This launch became a key milestone in the Delfin-class development program.

Construction began with steel cutting in April 2023, followed by keel laying in November.

“It demonstrates the kind of advanced technologies and capabilities Europe needs to confront new threats and safeguard our societies,” a Saab representative said at the launch.

Prior to delivery, Jerzy Rozycki will be fitted with mission-specific reconnaissance systems and undergo a series of sea trials. Commissioning into the Polish Navy is expected in 2026.

The vessel is the first of two ELINT platforms ordered under a 2022 contract between Poland and Sweden’s Saab. The agreement covers the design, construction, system integration, and in-service support for two Project 107 Delfin-class vessels, at a total cost of approximately SEK 6.7 billion (around €620 million at the time of signing).

Saab serves as the prime contractor, responsible for overall design and integration of the specialized systems, while construction is carried out in Gdansk.

The Delfin-class vessels are based on Sweden’s HMS Artemis, though detailed specifications remain classified. Publicly available information indicates the reference platform has a length of 74 meters and a displacement of approximately 2,200 tons.

The second Polish vessel under the program, Henryk Zygalski, is already under construction and will join the fleet after Jerzy Rozycki is commissioned.
