Poland to Provide Ukraine With F-16 Ammunition

Poland is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine that will include ammunition for F-16 fighter aircraft.

Polish Deputy Minister of National Defense Stanisław Wziątek said this, Polskie Radio reported.

Poland will also provide aviation equipment. The defense aid package could be worth €50 million.

The statement said that the ammunition for the aircraft included in the package would be used to destroy drones.

“Our assistance is being prepared. It will happen shortly. I cannot say what it contains, but I will say this: It is what Ukraine needs now. This includes, among other things, basic ammunition. This is ammunition mounted on F-16s to shoot down Russian drones,” Wziątek said.

Ukrainian F-16s use AIM-9 and AIM-120 air-to-air missiles against Russian aircraft. Last year, an F-16 armed with APKWS II rockets, which are effective against drones, was also spotted in Ukraine.

The aviation equipment Poland may provide could include drones or retired MiG-29 fighters. Warsaw is also considering providing Ukraine with Patriot missiles following the fall of a Kh-101 missile in Poland.
