Polish military receives batch of new Legwan armored vehicles
On December 20, Poland’s Rosomak S.A. completed the delivery of 15 Legwan Light Reconnaissance Vehicles (LPRs) to the Polish Armed Forces.
As noted by the company, this milestone is part of a larger agreement signed in August 2023 between the Polish Armament Agency and the PGZ-Rosomak consortium to supply nearly 400 reconnaissance vehicles by 2030.
These vehicles are locally adapted Kia Light Tactical Vehicle (KLTV) versions.
The Legwan is specifically tailored for military needs, offering high mobility and durability. It is equipped with a central tire inflation system and run-flat tires, enabling it to remain operational even after sustaining damage. Additionally, the vehicle can mount a 12.7 mm or 7.62 mm machine gun or a 40 mm grenade launcher on its roof turret.
With an operational weight of approximately 6.1 tons, the Legwan bridges the gap between lighter 3.5-ton vehicles and heavier platforms based on the Waran 4×4. This makes it an ideal solution for reconnaissance tasks in diverse terrains and operational scenarios.
The delivery of these vehicles marks a significant step in modernizing Poland’s reconnaissance capabilities. Scheduled deliveries of the remaining Legwan units will span from 2024 to 2030, ensuring the Armed Forces are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to address emerging security challenges.
