The Estonia-based company Meridein Grupp plans to launch a large drone manufacturing plant in one of the Baltic countries, with an initial capacity of up to 2,000 units per day.
According to the plan, the first products will be ready no later than the first half of 2026.
It is reported that Meridein Grupp has signed initial agreements with a number of partners, including Ukrainian drone manufacturers, to establish the plant in the Baltic countries.
It is noted that the new facility will produce drones for leading global companies in the industry as well as for the public sector.
“The signed agreements include the production of FPV drones — that is, strike drones, bomber drones, as well as reconnaissance drones,” Eduard Vainu, Development Manager at Meridein Grupp, reported.
For security reasons, the potential location of the plant is not being disclosed, but it is noted that the first products will be ready no later than the first half of next year.
At the initial stage, the company plans to produce up to 2,000 drones per day.
The amount of investment in the new plant is also not being disclosed.
Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds recently announced the delivery of a new batch of strike drones to Ukraine as part of the international Drone Coalition.
He stated that this batch included 1,500 drones. They are part of the 12,000 UAVs that two Latvian companies will produce in the first half of the year to meet the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The value of this order, provided as part of military aid, is €17 million.
