Report: L3Harris Unveils Software to Manage Swarm of Autonomous Platforms
L3Harris has introduced new software with a single-user interface to control multiple autonomous assets simultaneously.
Designed for the US military, the system has been dubbed the Autonomous Multi-Domain Operations Resiliency Platform for Heterogeneous Unmanned Swarms (AMORPHOUS) and functions through a command-and-control interface.
It features open architecture to manage various uncrewed platforms, payloads, and systems.
Currently, L3Harris is developing AMORPHOUS prototypes for the US Army and the Defense Innovation Unit.
The system demonstrated flexibility and interoperability during government-run tests, controlling multiple assets across different vehicle types and domains.
“This project also highlights L3Harris’ partnerships with venture-backed and non-traditional companies to mature emerging defense capabilities more quickly and affordably,” said Jon Rambeau, Integrated Mission Systems President at L3Harris.
AMORPHOUS
AMORPHOUS enables decentralized decision-making, allowing uncrewed assets to operate independently and make real-time tactical decisions within the network.
It supports missions across air, land, sea, and space.
It allows for various operations, including search and rescue, intelligence gathering, reconnaissance, electronic warfare and precision strikes.
The system provides tools to command swarms, oversee missions, and maintain situational awareness.
AMORPHOUS can autonomously manage and coordinate large numbers of unmanned platforms, operating hundreds or even thousands of assets simultaneously, according to the company.
