Reuters: According to Russia, the British Navy blew up the Nord Stream

Reuters on reported on Russian claims that British navy personnel blew up the Baltic Sea gas pipelines between Russia and Europe.

The news agency noted that the Russian defence ministry’s claim accused a leading Nato member of sabotaging critical Russian infrastructure.

“To detract from their disastrous handling of the illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defence is resorting to peddling false claims of an epic scale,” the UK Ministry of Defence tweeted(siirryt toiseen palveluun).

Nord Stream passes through the territorial waters and/or Exclusive Economic Zones of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.

Since the explosions at the end of last month, Finnish media has homed in on the lack of debate surrounding the Nord Stream gas pipeline project when its construction was planned. Attention has also focused on former Finnish PM Paavo Lipponen’s consulting services to the Nord Stream AG gas pipeline company, a majority shareholder of which is the Russian state-owned company Gazprom.
