EDGE Group subsidiary Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) has unveiled the largest military boat it has produced to date – a 51-meter (167-foot) offshore patrol vessel.

Called the 510 OPV, the ship was introduced at the Indo Defence Expo & Forum 2022 in Jakarta.

The vessel has a modular deck that can be configured for equipment transport or deployment of various combat systems.

It is also designed to operate in adverse sea conditions.

According to ADSB chief executive officer David Massey, the 510 OPV was built to meet the increasing global demand for sophisticated tactical vessels with high-level multi-mission capabilities.

“In line with the UAE leadership’s vision, we are focused on developing ‘Made in the UAE’ products that have serious export potential, and we look forward to meeting prospective customers and showcasing our capabilities during Indo Defence,” he said.

Additional Features

ADSB’s large offshore patrol vessel has a 65,000-liter fuel capacity to support long-range operations.

It can accommodate two 11-meter (36-foot) fast interceptor boats, one rigid hull inflatable boat, and search and rescue equipment.

The main deck can also be mounted with a multi-functional crane for offshore operations.

Additionally, the aft of the ship can be covered to accommodate a launch pad for unmanned aerial vehicles.

Apart from maritime patrol, the 510 OPV is ideal for search and rescue, fast-attack, and other offshore missions.

“The OPV is built with a proven hull that is already in operation in the Gulf. Similarly, all the tests have been successfully carried out and certified by the concerned authorities and classification societies,” ADSB director Francesco Lo Monaco told Breaking Defense.
