Spain provided Ukraine with 300 tons of military cargo, air defense systems and armored vehicles
Spain provides Ukraine with military assistance on an unprecedented scale.
This was stated by Pedro Sánchez, Spanish Prime Minister, at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to Ukrinform news agency.
Ukraine received, in particular, armored vehicles, ammo and ammunition.
“To date, we have delivered (to Ukraine – ed.) 300 tons of military cargo. To let you know, this is a historic, unprecedented effort for Spain’s potential… Of course, this is an extraordinary effort for Spain, which has never happened,” Sánchez emphasized.
According to the Prime Minister, in recent deliveries, Spain transferred air defense systems, winter equipment, as well as armored vehicles to Ukraine. Spain also organized basic training for members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Spain’s share of the European Peace Fund is 9 percent or 2.5 billion euros, the politician noted.
On October 6, 2022, the Spanish Ministry of Defense sent a convoy with army SUVs, ambulances and medical equipment to Ukraine.
The delivery is designed for priority logistics and medical needs of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Twelve more trucks will be shipped by sea from Spain in the coming days.
