Sweden and Finland Order 300 More Sisu GTP 4×4 Armored Vehicles

The Swedish and Finnish armed forces have jointly ordered more than 300 additional Sisu GTP 4×4 off-road vehicles.
The approximately 2-billion Swedish krona ($211 million) procurement brings the total number of vehicles ordered by the two countries to over 600, including variants such as single-cab, air-defense, command, medical, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN)-detection models.
These additional vehicles will be delivered within the same timeframe as the previous order, enabled by the manufacturer’s increased production capacity.
Deliveries to the Swedish Armed Forces are scheduled from 2026 to 2028.
“We have just started delivering the previous order to the Armed Forces and the cooperation with Finland is a success factor in that,” Head of the Wheeled Vehicle Unit at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, Caroline Viberg, said.
“The fact that we are now adding additional vehicles to the Armed Forces means a much-needed increase in capability.”

The multi-purpose armored vehicle is built for harsh off-road conditions in all environments, including mud, snow, and rugged terrain.
Independent suspension allows it to navigate challenging obstacles, while differential locks on every axle enhance traction and control.
The vehicle can be fitted with a winch, traction chains, and a Central Tire Inflation System to adjust tire pressure for different terrains, significantly improving off-road mobility.
It offers ground clearance of 0.4 meters (1.31 feet), an approach angle of 45 degrees, and can handle gradients of up to 60 percent.
Powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM926 six-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine, the vehicle delivers a high power-to-weight ratio for superior performance.
Its modular design enables task-specific protection, featuring STANAG 4569-compliant mine and ballistic armor, with add-on kits available for enhanced defense, including protection against CBRN threats.
