Canada is allocating a new military aid package to Ukraine, which will include missiles and artillery shells.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement during his visit to Kyiv on Saturday.

The value of this package is 500 million Canadian dollars (over $370 million).

In particular, Canada will transfer air-to-air missiles as part of assistance to protect Ukrainian skies.

“Today I can announce that we will provide CA$500 million in new funding for military assistance. In total, we have already provided more than CA$8 billion, of which CA$1 billion was in military assistance,” Trudeau said at a press conference in Kyiv on Saturday following the meeting with President Zelensky.

The Prime Minister of Canada also added that his country would supply the Defense Forces of Ukraine with 287 AIM-7 Sparrow missiles.

According to Trudeau, Canada will join multinational efforts to train Ukrainian pilots on Western fighter jets.

Also, as reported by Ukrinform, Canada will extend the UNIFIER military training mission until 2026, within the framework of which more than 35,000 Ukrainian soldiers have already been trained in the past eight years. It is noted that within the framework of the international “tank coalition”, Canada will help set up a maintenance center for Leopard 2 tanks in Poland.
