The Army of Belarus will receive a batch of BM-21B BelGrad MRL
A batch of 122 mm multiple launch rocket systems of local modernization has been prepared for the Army of Belarus.
This was reported by the State Military Industrial Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
These are BM-21B BelGrad rocket launchers from the Belarusian enterprise OJSC 2566 Radioelectronic Armament Repair Plant.
It is noted that the plant had completed the modernization of the next batch of BM-21 Grad MRL to the BM-21B BelGrad level.
Allegedly, the rocket launchers have successfully passed acceptance tests and are ready to be handed over to the Belarusian army.
It is not reported how many MRLs would be transferred. Judging by the published photo, at least two.
Back in December 2020, Militarnyi reported on the testing of a modernized BM-21B BelGrad-2 multiple rocket launcher system in Belarus at the Osypovychskyi military training ground. State tests were conducted in the summer of 2021.
During the modernization, a levelling and stabilization mechanism was developed that allows the equipment to be brought to a state of readiness for firing in the shortest possible time on any terrain. The modernization work began in May 2020.
At the time, it was stated that the improved BM-21B had been equipped with a compact new set of Belarusian-designed communications and data transmission equipment.
The increased length of the cargo platform made it possible to install racks for 40 or 60 rockets between the cabin and the artillery section (full ammunition – 80 or 100).
Additionally, it was possible to reload the launcher without a transport vehicle and reduce the time required to prepare for the second salvo.
Fire control can be carried out both from the vehicle’s cab and with the help of a remote control (coil) at a distance of up to 60 meters. At the request of the customer, useful volumes for the transported property and spare parts were increased and made more functional – separate ones for the chassis, a set of communication equipment and maintenance of the artillery unit.
