Turkish Armed Forces delegation visits Mogadishu, discusses defense cooperation
Implementation of Defense and Economic Agreement, counterterrorism discussed, says Somali defense minister.
A delegation from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) paid a visit to Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, Somali Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur said on Wednesday.
“Today, I and the Chief of Staff of the Defense Ministry received a delegation from the fraternal country of Türkiye, consisting of military and civilian officials,” Abdulkadir Muhammed Nur said on X.
A meeting was held at the headquarters of the Somali Armed Forces, with Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin in attendance.
The topics covered included the implementation of the Defense and Economic Agreement signed between the two nations in Ankara in early February, he added.
“We discussed Türkiye’s provision of training, equipment support, and reinforcement to the Somali Armed Forces,” he said, adding counterterrorism was also among the topics discussed.
