The United Kingdom and France have conducted the large-scale Rhino Titan military exercise in Germany, involving more than 2,500 troops.
Sky News reported this, citing the UK Ministry of Defence.
The seven-week exercise took place at the Sennelager training area in Germany. Its purpose was to test British and French units’ readiness to deploy rapidly and defend NATO territory against a potential attack.
One of the key stages involved parachuting around 600 British and French troops from four Royal Air Force A400M Atlas transport aircraft.
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, this was one of the United Kingdom’s largest airborne operations in the past two decades.
During the exercise, troops practiced parachuting personnel and dropping specialized equipment from low altitudes on a scale not previously attempted in this way.
The main UK contingent was provided by the 16 Air Assault Brigade, which serves as the UK’s Global Response Force and maintains a high state of readiness.
Under the exercise scenario, troops faced a simulated adversary that made extensive use of drones and electronic warfare systems.
Three Royal Air Force Chinook transport helicopters also took part. Their crews practiced airlifting a casualty reception station.
Brig. Ed Cartwright, commander of the 16 Air Assault Brigade, said the exercise allowed troops to rehearse a realistic scenario involving the defense of NATO territory against an adversary using drones and electronic warfare.
UK Defense Secretary Wes Streeting emphasized that modern threats require new approaches to warfare.
“Alongside our French and German allies, this large-scale training exercise shows we can deliver rapid, large-scale airborne power anywhere it’s needed to defend NATO territory,” Streeting said.
British troops announced preparations for Rhino Titan in spring 2026. The Royal Artillery publication reported plans for a large-scale airborne operation in Germany as part of the Year of Air Manoeuvre program.
The exercise follows training conducted by the two countries on October 20-21, simulating a nuclear airstrike involving Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets.
Militarnyi previously reported on joint exercises involving British and French paratroopers during Exercise Orion 26, held in France from February 23 to March 3.
