UK Increases AS90 Artillery Shipments to Ukraine: 16 Units to be Delivered
The UK government intends to deliver more AS90 artillery guns than previously reported.

The Government is set to surpass its commitment to deliver 12 AS90 artillery guns within 100 days of taking office, with 16 units now on course to be delivered.
It is reported that 10 self-propelled artillery systems have already been delivered, and six more to follow in the coming weeks.
“Artillery has played a vital role in providing cover for Ukrainian troops and destroying key Russian targets,” reads the statement.
The UK has also announced a new joint MOD and FCDO Ukraine unit—led by Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Defence Secretary John Healey—which will integrate expertise and help drive a new whole-of-government approach to Ukraine.
Military assistance from the UK
On September 23, the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) announced plans worth £2 million to procure 300 large FPV drones to meet urgent operational needs within the Drone Capability Coalition.
The tender, called the Large First Person View Drone ITT, is seeking “up to 15 batches of first-person view drones, consisting of 20 drones each and associated options, capable of carrying a 5 kg+ payload.”
The systems, which include ground control stations and auxiliary equipment, will be shipped to Latvia for rigorous evaluation.
The tests will last for three months and should determine the suitability of the drones for future contracts. In addition, if the tests are successful, it is expected that large-scale production of “up to 500 drones per month” will be possible.
On September 11, it was reported that the United Kingdom allocated funds for humanitarian aid to Ukraine and announced additional military aid by the end of the year.
By 2024, hundreds of additional anti-aircraft missiles, tens of thousands of additional artillery ammunition, and more armored vehicles will be delivered to Ukraine.
