5 Russian tanks, 4 artillery systems, 10 armored vehicles destroyed, 200 more soldiers killed, says Ukrainian military

The Ukrainian military said on Sunday it repulsed nine Russian attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk over the past day.

Five Russian tanks, four artillery systems, 10 armored combat vehicles, two military vehicles and a drone were also destroyed, according to the Ukrainian General Staff’s latest update.

Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile units also shot down two cruise missiles, while 12 units of Russian military equipment were destroyed in airstrikes, it added.

Russia continues to conduct “offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone,” including missile strikes and air bombardment, the Ukrainian military said.

Russian forces have ramped up the use of aircraft to destroy critical infrastructure in areas where fighting continues, it added.

“There is still a threat of missile and airstrikes from the territory of the Republic of Belarus on … the territory of Ukraine,” the statement said.

On the Siversky front, Russian forces are shelling settlements and targeting infrastructure in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, including in areas such as Ulytsia, Bunyakine, Hirky, Gremyach, Boyaro-Lezhachi and Muravyi, the military said.

According to Ukrainian news agency UNIAN, eight people were injured in Russian attacks in the Kharkiv region over the past 24 hours.

The Ukrainian military further said 200 Russian soldiers were killed in the past day, raising the war total to around 29,050.

At least 3,838 people have been killed and 4,351 injured since the Ukraine began on Feb. 24, according to UN estimates. The true toll is believed to be much higher.

More than 6.4 million people have fled to other countries, while over 7.7 million people remain internally displaced, according to the UN refugee agency.
