Ukraine’s 2026 Drone Spending Up By 300% Compared to Last Year: Report

Ukraine claims drone spending in 2026 has already increased by over 300 percent compared to the entirety of 2025.
Ukraine claims drone spending in 2026 has already increased by over 300 percent compared to the entirety of 2025, contracting a variety of systems including first-person view (FPV) drones.
According to a report by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the acquisition of FPV systems is 54 percent higher so far in 2026 than for the whole of last year.
Meanwhile, the amount of deliveries has increased by approximately 3.7 times in the same time span.
The defense ministry credited the development to support from international partners and the production scaling of domestic industries.
To sustain the numbers, the ministry said it is continuing to place orders for more drones for its defense industry, adding that it is focusing on “scaling solutions that deliver results in combat.”
“The task of the Ministry of Defense is to provide the army with drones for effective work at every level: tactical, operational and strategic,” Ukraine Defense Minister Yevgeny Khmara said.
“Technologies and the availability of a sufficient number of means increase combat effectiveness and at the same time reduce risks for our soldiers.”
Increased Government Support
The figures could also be attributed to the country’s increased use of ground robots, which has tripled since the start of this year.
Ground robot deployments have steadily increased throughout 2026, with records showing 11,028 missions in April and over 19,940 by July.
Ukraine’s defense ministry has worked hard to stabilize its supply of drones to frontline troops, with the Defense Procurement Agency opening calls for systems that meet certain criteria set by the ministry.
It covers logistics and strike platforms that can maneuver through rough terrain.
