The British government will reserve 245 million pounds ($310 million) to supply artillery ammunition for Ukraine in its second anniversary of defense against Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The funding will be used “to procure and invigorate” urgently needed shells to replenish Kyiv’s stockpile, further supporting artillery systems that have “proved” operability to secure the country’s sovereignty.

According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the funding will improve the Ukrainian armed forces’ advantage over Moscow due to strategies honed during the conflict.

Among these tactics is the utility of aerial drones and radar systems to rapidly identify the locations of Russian weapons and neutralize them.

“During the past two years, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have become one of the largest, most capable and respected fighting forces in the world,” UK Chief of Defence Staff Admr. Tony Radakin stated.

“Today the Russian Army has lost half the territory it seized, over 350,000 men killed or wounded, thousands of tanks, artillery pieces and armoured fighting vehicles, the Russian Fleet has been driven from Crimea and Ukraine’s maritime exports are returning to pre-war levels.”

‘Fight Towards Victory’

UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps emphasized the need to deliver additional military aid to Ukrainian warfighters as they enter their third year of resistance against Russian forces.

“Against all odds, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have pushed back the Russian invaders to recapture half of the land Putin stole, while significantly degrading Russia’s capabilities – with around 30 percent of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet destroyed or damaged, and thousands of tanks and armoured vehicles reduced to scrap,” Shapps said.

“But they cannot win this fight without the support of the international community – and that’s why we continue to do what it takes to ensure Ukraine can continue to fight towards victory.”

“Together, we will ensure Putin fails, and a victory for democracy, the rules-based international order, and the Ukrainian people.”

Additional Brimstone Missiles, Humanitarian and Economic Aid

Days before the announcement, Shapps confirmed the donation of 200 additional Brimstone anti-tank missiles to Kyiv, increasing the British government’s deliveries to Ukraine to over 1,300.

This latest tranche followed the delivery of 600 Brimstone projectiles revealed last month.

Meanwhile, London pledged an additional 18 million pounds ($22.7 million) in humanitarian and economic aid for Kyiv’s recovery.

Most of these funds will allow organizations, including the UN and Red Cross, to distribute necessities on the frontline, while the remaining will be used to reinforce Ukraine’s energy infrastructure against future attacks.
