Russia says NATO force buildup in Poland will see ‘proportionate response’
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has promised a “proportionate response” to a buildup of NATO forces in Poland, according to news agency Reuters.
Oleg Tyapkin, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s department responsible for relations with Europe, said that Moscow’s reaction to the buildup of NATO forces in Poland would be proportionate, Reuters reported, citing Russian news agency Interfax.
“The reaction, as always, will be proportionate and appropriate, aimed at neutralizing potential threats to the security of the Russian Federation,” Tyapkin said.
The day before, Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki said that Poland takes quite seriously public threats by Russian politicians against the country, as well as discussions on Russian television about nuclear strikes against Poland.
