The US Army Contracting Command has awarded Oshkosh Defense a $543 million contract to deliver joint light tactical vehicles (JLTVs).

Under the agreement, the company will provide 1,681 JLTVs, 618 JLTV trailers, and associated equipment to the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.

According to the US Department of Defense, the contract exercises options to field additional JLTVs for US forces.

Work for the contract will be conducted at the company’s facility in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Deliveries are scheduled for completion by 2024.

Maintaining a ‘Robust Supply Chain’

Since 2015, Oshkosh has produced more than 18,000 JLTVs, delivering the vehicles to local and international military installations.

The company has more than 200 patents associated with its JLTVs, including the hybrid-electric JLTV launched in January.

“Oshkosh has spent the past eight years optimizing its manufacturing and design processes and building a robust supply chain with maximized efficiencies,” Oshkosh Defense Joint Programs General Manager and Vice President George Mansfield said.

“As we prepare for the follow-on contract award to be announced in early 2023, Oshkosh is in a great position to continue providing the best JLTV solution today and for many years to come.”

Other Oshkosh Defense Contracts

Earlier this year, Oshkosh partnered with other firms to develop JLTV-compatible weapon systems, such as the Spike multi-purpose missile and Spear 120-millimeter mortar.

In November, Oshkosh acquired Italian machinery firm Hinowa to expand its product portfolio.

Before its most recent contract with the US, the company delivered a tranche of 50 JLTVs to the Lithuanian Armed Forces to support the service’s rapid response battalions.
